More Than JustPaint

More Than JustPaint revisits artists who have played an important part in the history of the Sam and Adele Golden Gallery. Drawn from exhibitions presented since the Gallery’s opening, the works span different generations, approaches, and ways of thinking about painting. What connects them is not a particular style or movement, but a shared openness to discovery and a deep engagement with the physical and expressive possibilities of artists’ materials.

 

Bringing these works together offers a new opportunity to consider the remarkable community that has grown around the Gallery and Golden Artist Colors. Many of these artists have been part of our lives for decades—as visitors, collaborators, teachers, provocateurs, and friends. Their ideas have influenced us, just as the materials made here have found their way into their studios and their work. More Than JustPaint is both a look back and a celebration of what continues: artists pursuing new possibilities, ideas passing from one person to another, and a creative community strengthened by the willingness to share what we learn.
