ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONISTS: THE WOMEN

Female Artists of the Mougins Museum & American Federation of Arts
FAMM (Female Artists of the Mougins Museum), the only private museum in the world outside the United States with a permanent collection dedicated to women artists, announces its first major international traveling exhibition: Abstract Expressionists: The Women. Organized by the American Federation of Arts (AFA), the exhibition will feature nearly 50 works from the Abstract Expressionist movement drawn from The Levett Collection — one of the most significant private collections of this period in the world — during a two-year tour across five U.S. museums, from August 2025 to April 2027.

Curated by art historian Ellen G. Landau, the exhibition spans from the 1930s to the 1970s and brings together the most iconic women of the movement, alongside rediscovered artists. Featured names include Lee Krasner, Joan Mitchell, Helen Frankenthaler, Bernice Bing, Nancy Graves, Perle Fine, Elaine de Kooning, Grace Hartigan, Claire Falkenstein, & Sonja Sekula.
