2024 Armory Show: Women Choose Women

Art Fair

Women Choose Women, held at the New York Cultural Center in 1973, was the first large-scale museum exhibition devoted solely to women artists and curated by a committee of women artists.

In 2024, advocacy for–and by–women in the arts is as necessary as it was 50 years ago. Recently Artsy released its “Women Artists Market Report,” which found of all works sold at auction between 2012 and 2022, only 6% were by women artists.

Featuring 11 paintings and works on paper from cross-generational selection of women artists, Our 2024 Armory Show presentation asserts that women did and do in fact play a pivotal role in the art world, and their presence is much more impactful than auction statistics would imply.

Reflecting Berry Campbell’s steadfast dedication to the rediscovery and advancement of women artists, this presentation centers on the ongoing aesthetic dialogue between contemporary artists and estates. Women Choose Women commemorates the diversity and perseverance of women artists working in the art world from the mid-century to now.
