IBRAM LASSAW

Opening Reception

Thursday, November 20, 2025

6 - 8 pm

Berry Campbell is pleased to announce its first exhibition of works by Ibram Lassaw (1913-2003). Lassaw’s sculpture is celebrated for its open-form construction, created by brazing and welding metal into airy, linear compositions. Describing his work as “action sculpture,” Lassaw’s process emphasized spontaneity and gesture, translating the energy and movement of Abstract Expressionism into three-dimensional form. He was a well-known presence in both The Club and the American Abstract Artists group and his seminal 1952 sculpture, Kwannon, is on permanent view at the Museum of Modern Art, New York. This exhibition will open with a reception Thursday, November 20, 2025, 6 - 8 pm, and will be accompanied by a catalogue featuring a previously unpublished essay by E.C. Goossen.
