Berry Campbell is delighted to announce its participation in ArtBasel Miami Beach 2025. Led by Christine Berry and Martha Campbell, Berry Campbell is dedicated to bringing underrepresented artists to prominence. For this special presentation, Berry Campbell will highlight women artists who have recently received overdue recognition. Through scholarship, museum exhibitions, and market attention, there has been a major resurgence of interest in the work of women Abstract Expressionists.
The centerpiece of the gallery’s presentation is Ethel Schwabacher’s monumental Longnook IV (1961), a museum-quality painting. Schwabacher is among the key women of Abstract Expressionism and has been the subject of several key museum exhibitions including the landmark Women of Abstract Expressionism, Denver Art Museum, Colorado (2016) and Abstract Expressionist: The Women, Wichita Art Museum, Kansas (2025). The presentation will also include a 1983 work on paper by Helen Frankenthaler, a pivotal figure in the reassessment of women’s contributions to postwar abstraction.
Coming directly from The Lynne Drexler Archive and on the market for the first time, we are pleased to present an important early 1970s painting by Lynne Drexler, Untitled (c. 1973). Also on view will be The Mountain Ladder to the Sea (1974) by Alice Baber, an artist who is experiencing long overdue reevaluation. Expanding the gallery’s roster, we will debut two new artist estates at Art Basel Miami Beach: Mary Ann Unger and Louisa Chase.
Additional featured artists include Mary Abbott, Janice Biala, Bernice Bing, Elaine de Kooning, Dorothy Dehner, Perle Fine, Judith Godwin, Miyoko Ito, Ida Kohlmeyer, Emily Mason, Mercedes Matter, Betty Parsons, Yvonne Thomas, and Lucia Wilcox, among others.
This presentation is an extension of our gallery program, dedicated to the continued advancement of significant women artists.
